I happenned to be in zanzibar(tanzania) a couple of years ago trust me it was paradise on earth.Well like every paradise even this has its own problem. A very profund thing happenned when i was there which i can never forget in my life, we were there for a film shoot and the sequence required a local slum. we were shooting in live location but we added a few shops to give some character like the washing lady, ice cream seller and a meat shop... well that meat shop required a lot of meat so we bought a lot of meat which wasn't fresh ...because for a fact we are not going to eat it.
I started setting up the background people and were giving them some activities, but most of them insisted they stood near the meat shop. din't understand that then, but a couple of hours later when that sequence got over i couldn beleive my eyes those background artists and a few other localites were literally beating up and hurting each other to get a piece of meat, there was blood a lot of blood to get that old stinky meat. I still cant forget an old man's face who was literally thrown out of that crowd it's a miracle that he even survived that kind of fall.
This incident made me think and realize how blessed i was and i don't have to worry about food and infact i started feeling guilty that i have wasted so much food in my life which could have(with all probability am sure it could have) filled a lot of empty stomach. i wish everyone who has been blessed with their everyday meal and some excess meal should really take this into consideration, and take a moment to think of all those poor kids who will be starving to death. I can guarantee you that they have no clue that KFC or PIZZA HUT even exist. For them a handfull of food will be heavenly , so remember whenever u order a meal and waste it. Just tell yourself that the very food you wasted could have saved atleast 3 hungry kids...
